Q: phone decided activation required, won't activate

I pulled my phone out of my pocket today and it said Activation Required. This is an iOS 7 iPhone 5 that I upgraded to iOS 7 through the developer program. According to iTunes, I'm running the latest version of iOS and there is no upgrade.

 

The activation process keeps failing ("Activation servers unavailable"). Has been like that for over an hour. I'm able to login with Apple ID every where else just fine (Laptop, online, etc), but the phone is just dead.

 

Been trying to reach Apple support but they only take or make calls. They keep emailing me back with "tried to reach you, blah blah", even though in my service request description it says "my phone is dead and I cannot take calls".

 

Tried to restore via iTunes, but it said "cannot restore because Find My iPhone is on".

 

No idea how any of this happened while my phone was just sitting in my pocket. Logged into iCloud.com and checked out Find My Phone but my phone is not listed, just my laptop.

 

This is really lame.

    Ok after I did the dfu mode what do I do then cause I turned the phone on n the same things pops up

    This happened to me as well today I have a bunch of items on my phone as evidence for court even. While talking with someone about something I pull out my phone to google it and as soon as I unlocked it the phone shut off. After turning back on it said activation required then wouldn't let me activate it via iTunes or wifi. I'm on vacation and luckily found a store calle simply Mac which isn't an apple store but somewhat of a geek squad for apple. I spent 30 minutes waiting for apple customer service to answer before going to simply Mac. I then had to pay that store 15 dollars and they restored my phone to factory settings. I lost everything I looked here to find answers and found this discussion. Does anyone know what happened? I lost a lot of sensitive stuff for a court case mainly text messages and pictures!

    This actually worked! Thanks! My thumbs are numb for holding the home button down for 10 minutes until the apple icon showed up and the phone started restoring.
