If I delete an iMessage before I read it, is it marked as read?

As long as you do not open the message it will not view as read, just delivered. 😀

Well well, sorry if I'm dumb (new to this iMessaging world).

Can you confirm if I'm right:

1) if SMS messaging is used, one CAN delete an incoming text WITHOUT opening the thread, as the message gets 'stored' on top of the other contact threads until you actually click on it to open it.

BUT

2) with iMessaging, once you tap/slide on it, you get automatically directed into the conversation, so as you both said, it's impossible to delete it.

That's why I got a bit mixed up...

Does what I said make sense?

Oh thanks dw9098! I was confused because when I asked the same question earlier: 'will it be marked as read since it was deleted even though the actual thread wasn't opened?', someone in Yahoo answers said "yes"? Claiming to have 5 years wi-fi experience. I thought it would be just marked as delivered, correct? (Spooky, dw are my initials too...!).
