Q: Will Authentec Truesuite be updated for 10.9?

I believe Apple purchased parts of Authtic. Anyone have any clue if Authentec Truesuite for the Mac will be updated or will work in 10.9 Mavrick?

    Yes ;) with a fresh back up

    But I wonder if ther is any way to manually uninstall Truesuite as I have still a SSH access to my Mac

    I don't know that much about ssh.  But the link I gave above will get you to the download screen for Authentec,

    download the version for your system and run. It will give you an option to uninstall.

    Sounds this is the clean way to process : restore from TM, uninstall Truesuite and reinstall 10.9

    However I will try first to see if there is a way to make it in different way.

    Pity that it is such a waste of time...

    So I did restore previous version of OS, and uninstalled TrueSuite before upgrading to 10.9.

    Did anybody try to install TrueSuite over 10.9 ? Does it work ?

    I tried it, same as in the first post. However I have no backup((( Can anyone know which files to delete to log in? I have access to the file system from another macbook through thunderbolt wire.

    I had tested all Mavericks EXCEPT for the second GM version - and was never able to get the Upek Eikon scanner to work.  The blue function light would stay illuminated, but not scan and log-in.

     

    The TrueSuite software did not abort login [as it does now], and appeared to function and accept new fingerprint scans.

     

    I've posted a Bug Report on the blocked login by the TrueSuite software.

     

    Although I miss the functionality of Authentec -- I'd be mindful of getting locked out of Mavericks

    I was in exactly the same situation. Spent an hour or so looking in Library and System and found that even after manually deleting all TrueSuite components I could fins -- the Activity Monitor still showed persistent threads from 'TrueSuite' even after several [many!] Force Quits.

     

    Even SAFE BOOT didn't allow normal login due to the rogue TrueSuite components.

     

    Was finally forced to revert back to a Carbon Copy clone of the boot drive before the Mavericks upgrade and run the TrueSuite UNINSTALLER for 10.8.

     

    After TrueSuite was completely removed, Mavericks install and login proceeded normally.

    Happened to me as well... I gonna miss using my fingerprint reader.... I hope apple will update it in the future. The only fix was using an old TimeMachine Backup to restore 10.8 and unistalling truesuit 5

    I resolved the problem mostly by logging into guest account and deleting password to my admin account.  once logged into admin account, I was able to turn off logon function with authentec mini.  I now have full functionality except for logging into computer.  I put password back on my admin account and log in using keyboard. 

     

    Workaround at best, but don't expect a complete resolution as they are kaput.

    Anyone who has already installed Mavericks and wants to uninstall Truesuite can do so but it take a bit of rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty.

     

    First, download and open the TrueSuite dmg (see link in this thread) on a separate Mac.

     

    Then examine AppDelegate.scpt under: /Volumes/TrueSuite 5.5/TSUninstaller.app/Contents/Resource.

    Walk through the script and make note of what files and directories are purged.


    Then boot to a command prompt (single-user-mode) on your locked Mac, mount the fs, and apply the changes you've noted.

     

    Finally, issue a reboot.

    What if I run that applescript file in single-user-mode (doesn't know how to do it)? Will it help?

    The script is a helper for the TSUninstall appliction so it relies on a window server and user interaction.  I'm still working out what parts can be automated without a UI.

    There is something you can do:

     

    Login using the Guest account

    Go to your Users and Preferences, in the Login Options actiate the "Automatic login" using you account.

     

    This will let you bypass the login screen.

     

    After logging in you may remove the TrueSuite software or play with it so you don't use it for login and use it only for other type of authenticating or uses...
