How can I extend my desktop from my first macbook pro to a second macbook pro

There is a software product called ScreenRecycler that will do what you want.


You could also look at Teleport (free), which allows you to control multiple Macs sitting next to each other using one keyboard and trackpad (or mouse). While you cannot have a single app span the screens, you can have separate apps on each Mac and use copy and paste as well as regular file sharing to transfer information between the systems. I use this at work between my iMac and my MacBook Pro.
