Can I just say how frustrating this is to have to go out and purchase a $20 product that might not even be compatible on my mac

Why would you purchase it if it is not compatible?

System Requirements

  • Mac computer with an Intel processor
  • 5 GB free hard drive space
  • 1 GB RAM
  • DVD drive for installation

to retrieve MY OWN files back onto MY phone? I only got so much from my iCloud when I got a new iPhone and I am unable to retrieve anything of my own until I complete these god awful steps. Just had to get that out.

You don't need iTunes to move to a new device. You can simply use iCloud.

-> Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device

Perhaps you should have reviewed the system requirements before purchasing a new iPhone?

Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x

It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.

Do this first...

Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...

Snow Leopard Tech Specs

If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...

Other countries...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes

Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

I wasn't able to get all of my music off of iCloud as not all of my songs were purchased via iTunes. I also had to individually re-download all of my apps. I didn't make the choice to get a new phone, it was a necessity, not that I should have to explain that to you...simply stating after already spending money to purchase a new phone and purchasing equipment to make anything I had with my 4 compatible with my 5... it's a frustrating experience to not be able to update my iTunes or connect my device to iTunes until I purchase this update, wait for it to ship, and install it. It's like I'm in an endless loop. That's all.
