Video Problem: Gopro video greater than 2 minutes is not viewable in Quick Time Player and is not recognized by iMovie. Smaller videos at same "capture setting" are fine.

OK - Have a new GoPro and have video anywhere from 1:36 long to > 1hour (our shark dive adventure). Quick Time and iMovie both recognize the short videos and I'm able to view and edit. The longer video is just over a gig and when attempting to open/view with Quick Time, "The document “GOPR0145.MP4” could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands." error shows.

Any help from the experts would really be appreciated.

Unfortunately, it is ofttimes difficult to determine the specific source of a problem such as this without actually being able to see the file, analyze actual file statistics, or test it in an alternative system envitonment. The problem could be anything from an Apple "Security" update correctly or incorrecyly preventing the file from loading, a conflict between the MP4 file container and the type of data contained in the file, a mismatch between the indicated Profile/Level embedded in the file container and the actual features/statistics of the final file encode, a codec support problem, improper termaintion of the data/file container, etc. Therefore, it is frequently helpful here to, at the very least, provide more specific information regarding the non-playing file and/or actually post a short sample of a non-playing file for examination.
