Above is the error that I started receiving this morning. The phone wasn't plugged into anything and appeared to have turned off due to a low battery. The phone was unresponsive when I hit the lock screen button or home button. When I plugged it into a wall outlet with the original USB cord and wall adapter, it initially showed that it had a low battery. After a few minutes once it had enough power to start, the Apple logo displayed normally for a few seconds and then the screen went dim and displayed the above error.

I then pushed and help the lock screen button and home button together until it turned off to hard reset it. I held the home button and plugged it into my Mac Mini so that it would go into recovery mode.

When I am prompted to restore the device iTunes states that it is preparing the iPhone to be restored, the phone itself will turn off and back on with the Apple logo temporarily until it goes back to the the error screen at the top of this post. iTunes displays that it is waiting...

When iTunes finally gives up, it will throw an unexpected error of either 4005 or 4013

I've seen similar discussions such as:

iPhone 4S Stuck at boot showing [NAND] ? https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4109291?start=0&tstart=0

Well I was using my iphone 5, When ..... i get the same error , https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5332446

My iphone 5 wont move ..... offset 1 Someone PLEASE HELP ME! https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4977481

and several others but none of which have been helpful. I've seen some actual Apple employees post on the discussions but nothing useful; the typical have you read the troubleshooting steps, here's some links to error messages, etc...that don't explain what this issue is and what I can do to resolve it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I've done it the procedure about a dozen times now. I unplugged it from my computer just to let it charge for a while to see if I can get anything to change. The strangest thing to me is that several people have this issue but the phone literally hasn't suffered any damage or trauma that would cause a hardware issue yet the software end of things won't resolve itself.

Hey guys,

I had this problem with one of my customers two days after changing their screen. Error 4013. Phone was showing codes when trying to turn on and wouldn't let me restore the phone. Luckily i love what i do so i went deep into it till i found what was causing the problem. After multiple fails of trying to restore the phone i decided to take it apart. I tried multiple new screens on to see if the screen was the one giving me a issue, but no.

I decided to disconnect my proximity / camera flex cable while leaving the screen connected( don't try this is you don't know what you are doing!) and tried the restore and VOILA! It did the restore. I got all the screen back together and problem was there again!

Finnally, i decided to change the proximity/camera flex with a new one and use 1 of the 3 screens that had given me the same error! And problem fix, phone turned on perfectly, no codes.

This worked for me, hopefully it works for you. Please comment if you try this and it works, maybe it will help other or maybe apple fix the issue.

This was done on an iPhone 5

GREAT POST E92MAC!

i was also introduced to that dreaded [NAND] message after replacing an iphone 5 screen for a customer. i thought maybe i zapped the logic board electrostatically or something. to make a long story short, i went out and bought this particular customer a BRAND NEW IPHONE 5S to the tune of about $720!!!!

since then i've reset his old phone and changed the proximity sensor/camera flex cable and VOILA! it's as good as new. i can probably sell it for $350 and get half my money back or i may just keep it for myself.

any idea though, how this happened in the first place though?? was it a bad proximity sensor/camera flex cable right from the get go? (i've always bought the replacement screens that you have to transfer everything over to... THIS PARTICULAR TIME i used a screen that i had purchased with everything attached to it so all i had to do was plug in the three flex cables. that will never happen again though because i know that the customers proximitity sensor/camera flex cable is working correctly!

also, one other question... with this particular phone- although working 100% the battery is not charging correctly. it goes up maybe 1% per hour, if that! i even ordered a new battery and put that in as well with the same results! have you ever had a problem like this or have you ever had a customer tell you that the battery wasn't charging correctly after a screen replacement?

i'd love for you to get back to me on this matter! thanks again!
