mac goes to sleep unexpectedly

I have a MacBook Pro that was my daughter's school computer for 4 years. From time to time she would complain about the computer going to sleep unexpectedly. She now has a MacBook Air. After migrating her files from the MacBook Pro to the MacBook Air she says the Air sometimes goes to sleep on its own.

Could this be a virus? Or........is there some software that is putting to computer to sleep (we migrated all software and files from the Pro to the Air).

Has anyone ever seen this one? Any suggestions?

Thanks is advance.

Very unlikely that this is malware of any kind.

If this is happening while on battery power, most likely the battery is starting to fail. That can cause the machine to unexpectedly run out of power and be forced to enter a low-power state to avoid crashing and preserve the contents of memory.

If it's happening while plugged in, or if the battery is still in good condition, try resetting the SMC.
