Using FCPX, when part of a movie has been deleted, a transition is sometimes appropriate. Most transitions pick up frames from the deleted material. This is visually disturbing and defeats the purpose of the transition. Is there an easy way to fix this short of exporting the movie without transitions and reimporting it to add transitions?
Grab the handles on ends of the bar at the top of the transition to trim the clips and remove the unwanted frames.

Excellent prompt reply. It worked! It took me a couple of tries before I noticed a key word in your answer is the "ends" fo the bar. The handles in the "middle" do not do the job. 😀
