Podcasts still deleting on refresh in iTunes 11.1.1

It seems that in iTunes 11.1.1 (as in iTunes 11.1 previous), podcasts episodes marked as played that are still available for download are being deleted when I refresh the podcast to check for new episodes. This was supposed to be fixed, does anyone have any ideas on whats happened? My podcasts are all set to 'keep all' on my iphone and itunes. If i try and go back to 11.0.5 will that prevent me from syncing with ios7?

This is a bit of a disaster and renders itunes practially unusable for podcasts, I really hope this gets fixed soon or someone finds a workaround
