outbound call volume issues

When trying to place a call, I cannot hear the phone at the other end ring. I don't know that I am placing a call until they pick up. The ringer/sound volume it at max.

It does work when I use a headset.

This is a brand new phone.

I don't want to restore it due to not wanting to get the upgrade.

Any other suggestion
