my ipod is not recognized by my itunes and tells me to uninstall itunes and reinstall. will this erase all of my music?

If you need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, your music files should not be erased or affected in any way. It is always a good idea to back up your data before making any changes to your computer, though.
