How do I find out what kind of charger I need to buy for my macbook air?

I looked into my system specifications and honestly there is no information there that tells me squarely what kind of charger I need to buy. I am especially frustrated because I went online and just looked at what kind of charger comes with the latest air and then bought it and found out it wasn't the right kind. *fuming*

Thanks

The power adapter for the latest MacBook Air is one with a MagSafe 2 connector.

If it doesn't fit, you need its predecessor: the MagSafe power adapter:

Any one on that page will work - if you buy an 85W adapter it will work with your MacBook Air as well as any non-Retina MacBook Pro. They are all the same price.
