Delete all email in Inbox iOS7

I don't know what iPhone you have or what OS you're running but on my iPhone 4, running 7.0.4, the mail gets deleted from the Inbox but never shows up in the Trash, and then it re-appears in the Inbox :-(

I have an iphone 4 with 7.0.4 too, and I have exactly the same problem, mails seem to be deleted and few second after re-appears in the inbox.

You MUST MARK ALL MAIL AS READ. Otherwise it DOES reappear.

Kept trying the mark/move thing and it never worked. Deleted both my email accounts and re entered them in very little time. problem solved. Apple still needs to provide a delete all feature and a way to mark everythig from one spot to another to be deleted. Not sure what may happen next. Will have to delete things regularly. The problem was that when I deleted mail on my computer, it did not delete on my phone even though I have things turned on in I cloud. I use two mail accounts but I know that s not unusual. I will check my settings on both phone and computer one more time.

Works great in IOS7 on my iPhone. Excellent solution! Apple should read these posts.

Just like you, David, the only way mine works is to MARK ALL AS READ.

Still an incredibly clunky way to get the job done (hope Apple's listening)...but glad this undocumented method exists. :-)

lombardi.simone's method does indeed work on my iPhone 5 iOS7. It actually doesnt then store them in trash but deletes them altogether. Not that I mind as I now have them on the PC. Better than w load or reduindant emails in the in box.

The whole thing is incredibly frustrating as I get so much spam everyday. To "delete all" would be heaven! Or, better, to be able to select all, then deselect a few keepers, THEN delete all the selected emails that are left would be great. I try the workaround (select one, hold down move, drag the list down, deselect the email, release the move button and wait) -- it is obviously doing SOMETHING, bet before I can get to the part where I move them to the trash, the Mail app crashes. EVERYTIME. Come on, Apple!

It is incredibly stupid taht we have to engage in this conversation...BUT it does work -at least on my Ipad with IOS-7.

You must do this in the proper order:

I suggest you CLOSE out your email application and then open it.

Then...

Click edit so the emails show up with the circle to the left.

Mark all emails as read. --(THIS STEP IS EASILY FORGOTTEN IN THE PROCESS)

Select the first email by pressing the circle.

Then press and hold the Move at the bottom...DO NOT RELEASE IT!!!

While holding the Move deselect the first email.

Continue to hold the MOVE button for maybe 15 seconds.

Then release the Move Button.

Your top email (on right portion of screen) will turn gray.

Then the right portion will display a "stack" of emails.

If you have a lot of emails you have to wait some time while the process occurs.

Eventually the screen will come up to ask where you want to move them.

Select Trash and all will move there as a batch.

The Trash Folder has an option to Delete All--at the very bottom after your last email.

Tricky but it works...at least for me.

Come On APPLE--this can't be that tough to streamline!!

ENOUGH ALREADY. I keep trying the methods outlined in all these posts, and none of them work. Even if they did, they're so convoluted that, unless I had tons of messages, they wouldn't be worth it.

Apple, are you listening: Even Microsoft figured this out a long time ago. It ain't rocket science.

Geoffc15 has the answer. I had hundreds and tried everything. Deleted everything on line but that did not phase the IPhone. Follow Geoffc15 instructions exactly, especially selecting all as Read initially and highlighting the very FIRST email and continue on. Thank you!!!

all these years I put off trying any Apple product but was seduced into getting an iPad ... and it ALMOST works on work trips as well as a laptop for my needs ... and I was waiting to see why everyone says Apple is so sublime, no viruses, no blue screen of death and so on. Instead there have been numerous upgrades each of which created new problems and now this positively primitive stupid problem ... what is this nonsense, we have to fool around pressing one key and swiping and slowly fighting our way through this absurd maze to work out for ourselves how to get the most basic of functions to maybe work some of the time, possibly, after adding eye of newt and toe of frog? Are they going to introduce Pong in the next iOs upgrade or perhaps suggest we start chat rooms? I am proud to say I still remember my DOS but ladies and gents, this is kerrazy.

Just to back up those who are trying this on iOS 7 on an iPhone 4.

It doesn't work.

You can repeat it all day, but it doesn't work on a 4. Mails keep re appearing.
