Can't unlock lock screen in my iphone 5 with iOS 7.0.2 update

Hi Guys,

I'm unable to unlock my lock screen sometimes (mostly when I receive a notification message and not unlocking for few mins). The screen freezes and I can't do anything except getting the control center, but options in the control center wouldn't work as well. Finally I have to reboot the device by holding the power button.

Not sure if this issue is peculiar for my device alone. But having a hard time rebooting my iphone quite often.

Let me know if apple is aware of it, or if anyone else is also facing the same problem like mine.

Thanks!

Hello Cedric,

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the lock screen on your iPhone. It is definitely inconvenient and frustrating when you are not able to access your iPhone.

I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing):

  1. If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
  2. If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
  3. If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
  4. If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    1. If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    2. Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
    3. If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
    4. If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
  5. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
    1. Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    2. If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
    3. If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
  6. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPhone before performing the restore:

I'm experiencing this issue as well, it appens expecially after a phone call with earphones.

I can't unlock the lock screen, only the control center pops up but it doesn't work. The only solution is to reebot the iPhone.

It's very annoyng, I'm thinking to go to an Apple Store e see what can they do, but I'm not sure I can replicate the freeze.

I had not added anything to this thread, because all I had to add was 'Me too', as me being another one, facing this problem, but was following this thread to know if some solution came.

I see that:

1. We seem to be one of the fewest of the iPhone users who are facing this problem, judging from the interest this thread is able to gather.

2. It has been a long time since any entry came into this thread. Has the problem been solved for you?

If yes, please share the solution.

By the way, I am on 7.0.4, iPhone 5 and have tried everything from simple reboot to resetting. Randomly, my lock screen refuses to unlock.

Please keep posted.
