Oct 7, 2013 3:34 PM in response to kaleighfrompeiby AAN2,If you just updated to iOS 7 try this:
1. Turn off iMessage and FaceTime
2. Create iCloud or iTunes backup
3. Erase all content and settings
4. Setup as new in the setup process- when it prompts to sign in with the apple ID for all apple ID services sign in.
5. Finish setup and check iMessage to see if it is activated- it should be. Test a message as well
6. Leave iMessage and FaceTime on and signed in and go to erase all content and settings again
7. Restore from iCloud backup and sign in with the Apple ID again in setup
8. Check iMessage settings- it may be toggled off- toggle it on and it should activate within a minute or two
