I had my iTunes library on an external HD when my internal HD irrecoverably crashed and was replaced. How do I get my iTunes on fixed iMac to recognize external HD library?

I had my iTunes library on an external HD when my internal HD irrecoverably crashed and was replaced. How do I get my iTunes on fixed iMac to recognize external HD library? iTunes, Preferences, Advanced, iTunes Media folder location, Change........does not appear to work.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Hello Fred2011,

I'd suggest holding Option on your keyboard while opening iTunes. This will allow you to choose the library that exists on your external HD.
