Computer isn't recognizing that I have the camera plugged in at all. I have a MacBook Pro and a Sony Handycam DCR-HC38.

I went out and bought the 4 pin to 9 pin firewire cable, but computer isn't recognizing that I have the camera plugged in at all. I have a MacBook Pro that is updated and a Sony Handycam DCR-HC38. I turn on the camera and then plug in the cord as suggested on the Sony Website. No camera shows up at all. I plugged in the camera and then turned it on and still nothing. I launched IMovie and only the mac camera activates.
