Genius Playlists not going away

My iTunes is constantly "Accessing iTunes Store" because of Genius. And by constantly I don't really mean sometimes. I mean about 90% of the time my iTunes is open this is happening. I don't want Genius. I have no use for it. When I look under Store, the "Turn Genius Off" button is greyed out and therefore unclickable. There's also all the annoying Genius playlists that I don't want and of course you can only hide those, not really delete them.

The only suggestions I could find online are turning Genius off, yet as I said before, that's not an option.
