Purchased tv episodes on iPad 3, not playing on Apple TV

I purchased a few shows through iTunes using my iPad and we can see them on Apple TV purchased tv but we are not able to view them. There is no error message, after selecting play, it starts to load and then returns to the previous screen. Any suggestions?

Thank you. I tried using that method and For some reason I still can not access iTunes Store through Apple TV. After I reset I decided to sign out of iTunes again and see if that would help, but it no dice. I did not know I could reset through the down arrow and menu button, so thank you for that trick. Hulu and Netflix are still working as normal. I would assume iTunes Store was down, except that I can access through the iPad so i don't know what else I could do,

I'm having the exact same problem. I've restarted, reset, and restored. Restarted the router. Same thing. No content shows up with music, and playing tv shows, or movies just loops me back to the title page. Netflix works. Hulu works. I can download, and play all content on the iPad. And the iPhone. Just not Apple TV.

It worked fine until last night... Very disappointed.

Update...yesterday I restored Apple TV and re configured the settings on To my wifi and iTunes and re established Hulu, Netflix and everything else. I was able to access my purchased videos immediately after. But this morning we had the same problem and since my child has been waiting to watch this program for more than 24 hours I began the whole trouble shooting process again. I immediately restored and updated software and it seems to work for now. It seems there is a bug in the latest update and I'm waiting for a new update to correct it. Especially since my purchased stuff is visible, we can view the 30 second preview but the Apple TV will not play it on demand. Thank you to all the posters who attempted to help.

I have the exact problem. If you restore the Apple TV back to factory settings, it will work once. After playing one movie/tv programme the error returns. I have an open call with Apple, who are looking into the issue. So, I decided to restore back to 5.3 and everything works fine...I then updated back to 6.0 and the issue returns. So it looks like there is a problem with this update.

That's what it appears to be. I've seen a lot of posts about this same problem. Apple support, in the end told us that we were using it too much... Like we wore the thing out or something. I'm currently using airplay to stream shows through the iPad. Hopefully they recognize the problem, and fix this. It certainly doesn't reflect well.

I do not know if you are experiencing problems with renting or purchasing items from the Apple TV through iTunes, if so see: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5446101?answerId=23399558022#23399558022 to determine if there are the same problems you are experiencing. I have spent over 6 hours on this issue trying to isolate if it is a hardware, software, network, iTunes account, or Apple device issue. My initial results indicate it is a software specific issue related to the Apply TV hardware device. After discussing with Apple tech support, they are working on solutions.
