How is the drive connected? Directly or as a network storage?

i am trying to restore my apeture back up from an external hard drive and it keeps telling me i cannot open it due to file permissions.
The two its in the above statement. To what does each refer to?

Oct 9, 2013 3:17 AM in response to quebixby Frank Caggiano,If you are trying to restore a TM backup you need to use the TM interface. Going directly to the backups on the backup drive will cause problems.
In addition you need to restore the library off the backup drive before you can open it. You can't open on the backup drive.
