Q: Esportation problem

Hi,

I can't seem to export any file type. Any attempt to export I get an error message indicating the failure to file export! What should I do, give me some idea on what kind of problem I pursued.

Thank you

    Ciao, manero.

I have copied the old aperture library in my new account, And all photos are recognised.

That is great, that everything is working in a new account.

But do you really want to migrrte to completely to a new account? I meant this step as test, to find out, if your your current account has corrupted settings.

Migrating everything will be rather involved - your mail and everyhing besides your iTunes library.

It might really be simpler to fix your current account byremoving items from your current user library in your home folder (not from the Aperture library).

    Remove the complete folder

    /Users/your user name/Library/Preferences/

from your user library to the desktop, also

    /Users/your user name/Library/Application Support/Aperture/

Then reboot the system and test again.  This should make your old account like a new account, but preserve your Mail, etc

Note:Your User Library is hidden by default in 10.7.x or later - to open it in a Finder window use the "Go" menu from the Finder's main menu bar.

    • Quit Aperture, if it is running. Log off and on again.
    • Open the user library by using the Finder's "Go > Go to Folder" menu and hold down the options-key, until "Library" appears in the drop down menu. Select it.
    • In the widow that will open, scroll down to "Preferences"
    • From the "Preferences" folder  remove all preferences files.

But deleting the "Preferences" file will cause Aperture to forget the preferences settings. Be prepared to have to reset all options you set using the Aperture Preferences panel.

If you really want that, Manero,  va bene!

To move your iTunes library, you need to move the complete "iTunes" folder from your "Music" folder to the "Music" folder in your new account.

    Best do it two stages:

    • First drag the "iTunes" folder to the /Users/Shared folder,
    • then sign into the new account, drag the "iTunes" folder from your new account out of the "Music" folder,  and drag the "iTunes" folder from "Shared" to your new "Music" folder.

You will probably need to set the permissions on your new iTunes folder to allow you read and write access.

    Follow up: The permissions problem:

When you move the iTunes folder from your old account via shared to the "Music" folder in your new account you will not be the owner of the moved files.

To fix this, you best use a Terminal command.

    • Launch the Terminal app from the Applications folder > Utilities.
    • Copy and paste the following command exactly as you are seeing it here into the Terminal window:

    sudo chown -R $UID ~/Music/iTunes

This command will change the owner of all files and folders in your moved iTunes library (~/Music/iTunes) to your new user name $UID.

It will do so recursively for all sunfolders, and it will make it as an adminstrator (sudo), so be very careful not to make any typos. You will have to enter your admin password.

It will be best to check your backup, if it is current, before you move your iTunes library.

    Regards

    Léonie

At this point I prefer to go back to the old account and see to solve the problem at the source! I had not deleted anything from my old account. Will you help me?

Last night I tried to uninstall it and after restarting the computer, however, you can not export files from Aperture!

I do not know this particular program, but it is clearly interfering with your operating system. Installing this program may have replaced system components by incompatible ones. I really cannot tell from afar, what damage may have been done.

At this point, I'd reinstall the Operating system. First try, if downloading and running the Combo Updater will help.

Download it from here: OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo)The 10.8.5 update is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users and improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac. Oct 3, 2013

The Combo Updater cannot repair everything, however. It might be necessary to do a complete reinstall by booting into Recovery, see: OS X: About OS X Recovery
