Q: Esportation problem

Hi,

I can't seem to export any file type. Any attempt to export I get an error message indicating the failure to file export! What should I do, give me some idea on what kind of problem I pursued.

Thank you

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Yes, I see, your MacIntosh HD is now called "LW".

I am really not sure, what may have caused this - one of the installer/uninstaller commands you ran. You can rename any harddisk in the Finder, by selecting it in the "Computer" folder and clicking into the name field. Then enter a new name - or better, the old name Macintosh HD.

But when I suggesed a screenshot, I meant a screenshot of all your disks, as seen in Disk Utility. You mentioned, that you ranDisk Utility to check the permissions. This was just to make sure, that there are no hidden other disk with different names.

If your problems should persist after reinstalling, run the free utility program EtreCheck, to see, if any parts of the software you uninstalled are still remaining. EtreCheck is a script, that will list all non-standard software on your mac. You can download it here: Etresoft: EtreCheck

    Manero,

one more thing to consider. I am not sure, if you have been using your Aperture Library alternately from your old and your new account. If you open the same Aperture library using different accounts, you will get permission problems. In that case repair the permission of the Aperture library signed into the acoount, where you will be opening your Aperture library. Use Aperture's Library First Aid Tools to do the repair. Repairing with Disk Utility will not suffice for an Aperture library.

Manero, it is really hard to get get back to the forums to answer with the maintainance going on, but your EtreCheck run shows, that you have two non-standard kernel extensions installed. The Soundflower driver seems to be recent, but your Tuxera software is older than your current MacOS X. Since your problems are with the links to your files, I recommend to check, if there is a more current version of the Tuxera software and to update that, if possible.

as you can see now I updated the files Tuxera but the result does not change! If I change the external disk or a new disk format compatible with mac, do you solve the problem?

If I change the external disk or a new disk format compatible with mac, do you solve the problem?

Apple specifically says that Photo Libraries have to reside on locally connected MacOS X Extended (Journaled) file systems.

See this document: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library

So, to be on the safe side, it would be much better in the long run to have your Aperture library on a disk with a native MacOS system. Why do you need the library on a MS-DOS formatted drive? Do you share it with PCs and Microsoft systems?

You can check, if the drive is the problem, if you create a new test library on your internal drive and import a few images, then try to export. (Use Aperture's file menu  to create the test library:  File > Switch to Library > Other/new ).

Can you import and export from a new library on your internal drive? Then that would mean, that your Tuxera drive is causing this problem.

As Aperture only runs on OS X there would be no point in putting the library on an MS-DOS volume, nothing on the PC could do anything with the library.

If it is a question of sharing the originals with a MS system then the originals could be stored on that volume as referenced originals and the library kept on a properly formatted volume.

To be honest I haven't rad through this whole thread but if the library is on this MS-DOS voulme it has to be moved.
