WIFI NOT WORKING AFTER IOS UPGRADE

I upgraded my IPhone 4s to IOS 7.0.2 and now ever since then the wifi connectivity has been flaky if non existent. I called the support line and they have blamed my hardware - and want me to buy a new handset. BUT UNTIL I UPGRADED THE IOS THE HANDSET WAS ROCK SOLID WITH WIFI - NOT HAPPY!

Apple say it's a hardware problem, it's just a coincidence that it has happened after an upgrade!

it really is a coincidence how so many users with 4s phones have experienced the same hardware issue after the software update . . . . . I'm no iphone genius but simple logic says it's software related!

it's about time Apple told us if they are searching for a solution to this issue?

firmware upgrade???

as I said I'm no expert and take on board your comments . . . . but why does this only tend to affect 4s phones; mykids have iphone 4 both upgraded and no problems!

it doesn't seem to affect iphone 5 the same way either

it's not temporary either

so do all the affected 4s users have to accept that since the phone got stressed due to the upgrade that we now have phones that are useless for business use?

surely Apple should let us know if they are trying to develop a fix?

Neither I, nor anyone I know with an iPhone 4S has experienced problems with WiFi after updating to iOS 7. If you search these forums, you'll find there are some users who have experienced hardware issues after EVERY single update of the iOS begining with the original iPhone. Apple warrantied the phone for a year; you had the option to extend the warranty. Apple has fulfilled it's warranty obligations to you. You can purchase another phone, or replace yours for $199.

If and when Apple deems that you are entitiled to information, they will release it.

I appreciate your comments and anyone taking the time to make suggestions or anyone who can shed some light on the issue

as you can appreciate it's frustrating that I have accepted any updates previously and not had an issue

I find the phone an extremely useful tool in busness but now cannot use the phones potential after the update!

there must be something that can be done to restore the phone to it's previos capeabilities prior to the ios7 update?

Mate that is not helpful and you are ducking the original issue that boardhedz and a number of other people have pointed out - not just in this forum

The upgrade has affected wifi connectivity

It is NOT A HARDWARE FAILURE

This is an OS issue - and APPLE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW!!!

I dont know what you have in the US, but in NZ there is a consumer guarantees act that stipulates

Subject to sections 41 and 42, where goods are first supplied to a consumer in New Zealand (whether or not that supply is the first-ever supply of the goods), there is a guarantee that the manufacturer will take reasonable action to ensure that facilities for repair of the goods and supply of parts for the goods are reasonably available for a reasonable period after the goods are so supplied.

(2) Part 3 gives the consumer a right of redress against the manufacturer where the goods fail to comply with the guarantee in this section.

Requirement to remedy

(1)A supplier may comply with a requirement to remedy a failure of any goods to comply with a guarantee—

  • (a)by—

    • (i)repairing the goods (in any case where the failure does not relate to title); or

    • (ii)curing any defect in title (in any case where the failure relates to title); or

  • (b)by replacing the goods with goods of identical type; or

  • (c)where the supplier cannot reasonably be expected to repair the goods, by providing a refund of any money paid or other consideration provided by the consumer in respect of the goods.

(2)Where a consumer obtains goods to replace defective goods pursuant to subsection (1), the replacement goods shall, for the purposes of this Act, be deemed to be supplied by the supplier and the guarantees and obligations arising under this Act consequent upon a supply of goods to a consumer shall apply to the replacement goods.

(3)A refund referred to in subsection (1)(c) means a refund in cash of the money paid or the value of any other consideration provided, or both, as the case may require

I bought a washing machine with a three-year warranty. One week after the warranty expired, the gearbox seized up. The shop says it's too bad. Is that right?

No. Suppliers' warranties are in addition to those in the Act. If you have used your washing machine in a normal fashion, it should not have a major breakdown after just three years, so you may still have redress under the CGA. The dealer should repair the machine free of charge.

Many shops regard this as unfair – after all, you've had three years' good use out of the washer. But the fact is, you paid for a new machine and didn't expect after just three years to face major costs or end up with an inferior one.

If they refuse to accept this, you could have the machine repaired elsewhere and attempt to recover the cost from the dealer.

gdgmacguy - thanks dude!

well consider this scenario and ask yourself would you be happy

you buy a macbook and after a year the warranty expires; Apple do a software upgrade and your macbook can't connect to any networks as a result (hardware or software I don't care, the update caused it) and Apple say sorry you'll have to buy a new one . . . . . and so by your arguments you would just run down and buy a new one! Idon't think so somehow.

it's similar to Hazy11's scenario above but, what that is missing is that after the warranty expires the manufacturer does a service to the washing machine that causes the problem and then says . . . sorry out of warranty!! it's unreasonable!

there's that many 4s users on here saying the same thing, whether it's hardware or software, it's a real problem that is Apple's responsibility!
