Panic report - MBA restarts every 10 mins - Corporate laptop

Hi All,

Mine is a corporate Macbook air. Diagnostic scans might not be possible on this, that is what the local IT corporate guy told me. So I am hoping that one of you will be able to narrow down the cause of these panic reboots.

Studying some of the posts here, I have an inkling that this is could be related to Macfee software running on my machine.

Let me know what you guys think.. I will be going to an authorized center tomorrow.

Uninstall the completely worthless McAfee product by following the instructions on whichever of the pages linked below is applicable:

How to install or uninstall McAfee Internet Security for Mac

How to manually remove VirusScan for Mac 8.6.x using a removal script

How to uninstall and reinstall McAfee Agent 4.x on Macintosh computers

Note that if you have already tried to uninstall the software, you may have to reinstall it in order to finish the job. If you have a different version of the product, the procedure may be different.

Back up all data before making any changes.

Thanks Linc Davis..

I also want to know if the error report actually points the finger at McAfee. I timed the periodicity of the reboots and it is about 6 mins. I am kinda hesitant because the unistall might end up taking longer than the next reboot which will not help. Probably reimaging the laptop might be a better option dont you think?

Boot in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime. That will stop McAfee from loading so you can uninstall it. What points the finger at McAfee is the fact that it's there. Even if it turns out not to be causing the panics, you should still get rid of it, since it serves no purpose at all.

Thanks for the reply.

From one of the other threads I picked up the suggestion to safe boot and I did it a few hours ago. The mac reboots even in safe mode. Oh well, I will have to take it to a genius bar and have it scanned.
