If you mean installing office on your iPad then you can't, microsoft haven't yet made app versions of their programs, and you can't install the Mac version (they are different operating systems). There are apps in the store that support office documents e.g. from Apple there are Pages (word), Numbers (excel) and Keynote (powerpoint), and from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go (also has a 'premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD (both of which support all three document types)
I thought that might be the case. How can I get my Word documents over to the Mini since I understand that the Cloud doesn't support MS Word documents? Then, once I open them in Pages (which is on the Mini?) can I later open them back up on my Mac's MS Word?
There is some info on how to get documents between the Pages app and your Mac on these pages :
sharing via iTunes : http://help.apple.com/pages/ipad/1.7/#tanb5b5c055
you can also do it via iCloud : http://help.apple.com/pages/ipad/1.7/#tan79be8e93
From the iCloud website, you can download documents in Pages ’09, PDF, or Microsoft Word file format. You can also upload documents in Pages ’09 or Microsoft Word file format to the iCloud website, and have them automatically appear in Pages on this device.
You could also try Office HD. It is the iPad version of office. It has a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation maker.
There's an app in the Apple store called Jump Desktop (Remote Desktop). It gets pretty great tech and user reviews. Besides allowing you to see the documents you can actually work on them in your ipad and changes will be reflected on your MBP. There's a free trial at jumpstart.com.
Hope this helps.
