Configuration of iphone and Laptop

my server is hosted by google and both my laptop and blackberry are configured to receive the mails simultaneously. The incoming mail server is pop3. I have recently switched from BB to iphone5 and now the mails are either being downloaded to EITHER my laptop or my iphone and not to both of them. The mail however is still available on the server. How come
