printer not behaving

MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8

Canon Pixma ip 5200r

My printer is misbehaving.

It appears to have stopped printing text, (some).

Trying to print from web recently, after many attempts the only way to get all the text, (knitting pattern for wife), was to save as a jpg.

Today trying to print from a pages document blank sheets came out 3 times. No preview was available in print window, but after reading help I used PDF preview, tried to print from PDF preview page - another blank sheet.

Tried printing a numbers spreadsheet, all I got was the greyed cells but no text.

Downloaded driver from web, no change.

What do I do next????😕

Downloaded driver from Canon site.

Printer has been idle for some time so looking at test print results it looks like printer head has stopped working for one cartridge. Put in new (pattern) one, still no joy. New one ordered.

Print head flushed, nozzle seems clear after a few minutes.
