Mountain Lion and iDVD??

I am a new iMac user..... went from a PC and couldn't be more frustrated. Everyone told me I would love this and I am really trying 🙂 I'm glad on medical leave or I would not have the time and would have taken this mac back for a PC.

My most recent issue is with all of the videos I have as MPG files. QuickTime will not open them, so I assume that QuickTime Pro will not either and will not convert them to .mov for iMovie.

Thus, I went to WonderShare (didn't want to go outside of the Apple World, but didn't see much of a choice).

Now I can get the movies to iMovie, but can't burn them to DVD because I do not have iDVD and am reading it is not available anymore. Is cloud my only option now?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

You can purchase and get iDVD from earlier versions of Apple's iLIfe suite of Apps.

iLife' 09 or iLife '11 are still available on Amazon.

Or there is Roxio Toast.

Get VLC, Google VLC. It is a multi format player

As for iDVD that is a DVD creating program that Apple no longer supplies in the iLife set of applications. You can try MiDVD, I think it is called, or do a search for DVD movie burning on Mac OS X.

Right, there is nothing easier done on a Mac than on a PC. It is just different. When I switched over I was very frustrated also. My present Mac will probably be my last. Not sure where I'll go from here.
