plantronics m50 volume issue with IOS7

Just tried using my Plantronics M50 bluetooth earpiece with my4S and IOS7, for the first time since I upgraded. While it functions well enough, the volume control seems to be missing. Prior to IOS7, I could tap the earpiece to scale through the volume options. Since IOS7, all that does is trigger Siri, while the volume level stays low.

Any ideas?

Hello BrianLBaker2,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like your bluetooth ear piece is not acting quite as expeted after upgrading to iOS 7.

I wanted to recommend the troubleshooting in this article named:

iOS: How to troubleshoot Bluetooth connections

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4562

  1. Check that you are in range of the Bluetooth device with which you are trying to pair your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Most Bluetooth devices have a range of approximately 30 feet.
  2. On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your device in the list. If your device says Not Connected, tap the name of your device to attempt to connect it.
  3. Tap Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and then on again.
  4. Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and fully charged or connected to power.
  5. Restart your iOS device.
  6. Tap Settings > Bluetooth and locate the Bluetooth accessory you are currently connected to or attempting to connect to. Then tap User uploaded file and Forget this Device. Try to pair your Bluetooth accessory again.

Note: You may need to re-enter your Bluetooth accessory PIN if your accessory requires one. Some common PINs are 0000, 1111, and 1234.

  7. Restart your Bluetooth accessory by turning it off and then on again1.
  8. Update your device to the latest version of software. See how to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  9. If your Bluetooth accessory has upgradeable firmware, check to see that you have the latest version1, 2.
  • If the steps above have not resolved the Bluetooth behavior you are experiencing, perform a software restore in iTunes.
  • If the issue persists after restoring your iOS device in iTunes, contact Apple for support and service options.

Notes:

  1. If needed, refer to your Bluetooth accessory documentation or manufacturer for assistance.
  2. Some Bluetooth accessories may require a firmware update for full compatibility with iOS devices such as a firmware update for AVRCP 1.4 Bluetooth compatibility.

All the very best,

Sterling
