Oct 10, 2013 12:09 AM in response to SelinacsKyleby Ethmoid,I don't quite understand why you are trying to delete your site from iWeb? Deleting your site from within iWeb itself WILL NOT delete the site if it has been published to your web host.
If your site is still live and has been published to a web host then you need to delete your site from your web host if you want to get rid of it. You need to go and physically delete the old website files from your server. Deleting a site from within the iWeb application willl not delete a published site because you are trying to delete files that are not published.
Remove the html and css files (published site files) directly from your old web host and your site will be gone.

Oct 13, 2013 11:41 AM in response to Ethmoidby SelinacsKyle,Hello, thanks for your reply!
Ok, I have my domain through streamline.net. Is this where I need to delete the old website files? It's still live. I'm not sure how to do it / what to ask them to do exactly. Excuse my ignorance... and thank you for your help.

Oct 15, 2013 12:21 AM in response to SelinacsKyleby Ethmoid,Well, if that is where your old website is published then yes, that is where you need to delete it from.
To do that you need to download an ftp programme such as Cyberduck - you can download it for free and then open it and enter your host details and connect directly to your host and go to your "public_html" folder or "htdocs" folder on your website where all your files are stored and delete your old iWeb site from there.

Oct 19, 2013 2:32 PM in response to Ethmoidby spyzelda1,Or, easier way:
1. Open iWeb.
2. On the left hand side of the window, there is a list of all your websites. If you extend them out, all your pages are there as well.
3. Right click on the actual website part of the drop down, and click delete.
This way doesn't involve going in to the coding of the app, and so much simpler for you. This method basically does what was told in earlier reply^, but there is no fiddling around with code which may harm/play with your website.
Alex.

Oct 20, 2013 1:13 AM in response to spyzelda1by Ethmoid,Look, yes I know full well how to delete a website from inside iWeb - I have been using it for many years, however, this question is NOT what the original poster asked. Don't just jump in with an answer that is actually incorrect and has nothing to do with what the OP was asking.
Deleting a website from within iWeb itself WILL NOT delete a published site from a host/sever and this is what the OP wants to do, because they have a new site up and published and the old iWeb site is interfering with it.
To delete a published website deleting it from within iWeb itself will have no effect at all. To delete the publsihed website you need to use an ftp client such as Cyberduck and go to the host/server where the site is published and delete it from there.
That is it, so please don't post incorrect facts that deleting a site from iWeb will delete a published site - it won't and also read the question first before posting an answer.

Mar 6, 2016 7:26 AM in response to Ethmoidby PeterUK,I know the original reply you gave about deleting iweb files from the server is from 2013, but I have a similar problem! Sorry to be so late in the day.
A file I wanted to delete via FTP disappeared from the list of files shown in the FTP app (Cyberduck), but it's STILL showing on my website and links from other pages on the same site still bring up the page that is 'supposedly' deleted.
Can you explain this phenomenon and is there a solution?
I'm almost ready to upload my rebuilt site using everweb, but not quite.

Mar 15, 2016 3:13 PM in response to Old Toadby PeterUK,Cheers O.T. You've helped me....yet again.
Clearing the cache sorted it out.
Thanks again.
Just as an afterthought: I've completely rebuilt my site using EverWeb. Do you think I should go ahead and purchase, or should I stick with what I know, viz. iWeb?

Mar 15, 2016 3:23 PM in response to PeterUKby Old Toad,Since iWeb will eventually be incompatible with the system I'd purchase Everweb. It's current and supported.
