May 27, 2014 11:25 AM in response to randers4by EWang,Hey randers4,
YOU ROCK. Thanks for understanding and explaining the instructions... Any chance that you know how I can recover my old Apple ID password?!?!?
Thanks,
Erica
If you have an old ID (email address) in Settings>iCloud as a result of updating to iOS7,you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

May 27, 2014 1:40 PM in response to EWangby randers4,If your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you won't need to recover the password if you follow these directions. Once you recreate your old ID, you should be able to use the password for your current ID to turn off Find My iDevice and delete the old account, even though it prompts you for the password for the old ID.
If your old ID is not an earlier version of your current ID, you will need to provide the password for the Old ID in order to delete the existing account. If you don't know it, you'll have to reset it. You can reset the password using one of the methods outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5787 if you know the answers to your security questions or still have access to the old email account. If you don't, then you'll need to contact Apple for assistance. You can do this either by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password; by contacting the Apple account security team: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699; or by contacting iTunes store support by email: https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

Jun 5, 2014 10:17 AM in response to Cmromer23by randers4,If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Jun 5, 2014 2:48 PM in response to randers4by Fantasticlees,hi, @Randers4 (who seems very knowledgeable)
im sorry to others for being off beaten track but i did click on your name hoping to send a message direct Randers. vmt for the advice which has indirectly helped me (similar problem which i placed in the ipad section of this forum). however i have 2 ipads(a 3 and a mini-SEE MY POST for more rel info) and had difficulty accessing my ipad3 after being away from then virtually forgetting about it for a while. your post above has helped me. just wondering the significance of find my idevice and deleting the old icloud account. my ipadmini was logging in ok with my 2nd id into icloud. if i sync my ipad3 from original id icloud then delete the old icloud before changing back my id what implication may it have on my ipadmini (thats using my present icloudid) which i am most definitely leaving switched off whilst all this is happening. (1)might there be conflicts (2)im hoping my ipadmini will ignore the excess info just like it said on my desktop when i just logged into the icloud on oldid that syncing no data is deleted. i have some precious photos on my ipad3 which im very concerned about losing and im hoping after deleting the 'old id' icloud account, i can just sync to new or my more recent id icloud. is it likely that as my old icloud seems to hold recent info that my 'current id' icloud does too (its just that my ipadmini doesnt show these precious photos-might be because ive not synced from the 'current id' icloud i suppose)-wish there was a way to see synced photos within icloud on desktop-within my ipad3 icloud settings photos are set to on) 3)my ipadmini has smaller hdd size than my ipad3 so dont want to cram all the info on it- if i sync my info from my ipad3 to 'current id' icloud, i presume my ipadmini which is allready on the 'current id icloud' will also get the info. my ipadmini wasnt showing the precious photos in my stream btw. as with previous poster i had my ipad(3) on my current id but using 'old id' icloud. very complicated lol.

Jun 5, 2014 3:09 PM in response to Fantasticleesby randers4,When you delete the old account, it will delete photo steam photos, but not camera roll photos (which are not associated with your iCloud account). To avoid losing any photos, save them to your camera roll (unless they are already in your camera roll) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll. Then import them from your camera roll to your computer using your usb cable as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then you can safely temporarily recreate the old ID, turn off Find My iPad using your current password, then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Then go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Jun 5, 2014 3:22 PM in response to randers4by Cmromer23,Thank you randers4, but the issue is when I change my primary email account to what the iCloud email is , it asks for verification before I can do anything at all. I can't verify the email because the email doesn't exist anymore so I don't know what to do.

Jun 5, 2014 3:35 PM in response to Cmromer23by randers4,That indicates that the old ID is not an earlier version of your current ID. Your current ID must be an entirely new ID that was not previously associated with the old email account; otherwise it would not prompt you to verify the address. If that's the case, this won't work and you'll have to provide the password for the old ID in order to turn off Find My iPhone and delete the account. If you don't know the password, and no longer have access to the old email account to reset it, you'll have to contact Apple for assistance resetting the password, either by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password, or by contacting the Apple account security team: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.

Jul 24, 2014 9:43 PM in response to Precellyby Hamy92,I have t same problem but when I go into the page to edit my incorrect email to my old email and they said :
This email address is not available for use as an Apple ID. You may already have an Apple ID associated with this address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID." I tried to change to another email but the same thing. so I can't do anything else , somebody help me please
-
Jul 24, 2014 10:32 PM in response to Hamy92by lizdance40,this can be fixed.
just to verify what you did so far....
You changed your email address, so you changed your Apple ID to match.
but now iCloud keeps giving you an error, won't let you sign in or out?
if you do, try this on the device...
go to settings, iCloud
tap the account
back out out the password dots, then enter the password.
Now you have verified the account, scroll down and delete the account.
done.
now you can sign in with the correct iCloud account and password.
IF this doesn't work. reset your iCloud password and use the password to sign in, then delete the account then add your new apple ID and password back.
crazy, huh?

Jul 25, 2014 10:00 AM in response to randers4by kevintorres,im having almost the same problem, but i restored my iphone and now to activate i need the iCloud id but it's not the same as the apple id.. when i put the apple id, it gives me a message "you cannot use this email to unlock this phone" so i need to find out the iCloud ID, how can i do that? please help me
-
Jul 25, 2014 11:24 AM in response to kevintorresby randers4,Reactivating the phone requires you to enter the ID and password that were used to activate it originally. If you are not the original owner, you will need to contact them and either get the ID and password or have them erase the device and remove it from their account as explained here: Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account. No one else can help you with this and there is no way around it.

Jan 3, 2015 7:57 AM in response to Precellyby AlterUrEgo,I just phoned apple help and he explained how to change my old email out of iCloud
-Log into AppleID and manage your account
-sign in with existing email
-Apple ID and Primary Email Address >>>> edit
-if the old email addy is in "Alternate Email Addresses" then you have to remove it
-put in the old email addy into the email field and save
- Email sent to verify you changed the email addy by signing in with old email addy and existing password
-Go into IPhone iCloud and delete the iCloud account and wherever else in all devices that the old email is being used.
-Log back into AppleID using old email with existing password
-Apple ID and Primary Email Address >>>> edit
- put current email addy back into email field
-you receive email verification and log in to verify
-Go back into IPhone iCloud and email field should be blank ready to accept your existing email and password.
This took about 5 minutes with a Apple rep and seems to have worked
