Hi,does anybody use M-Audio FW410?Is this interface
stable,how it sounds?Now I have Apogee MiniMe,but i
use Logic in Live performances and I need more analog
outputs,so i must buy one more interface. My choice is
between FW410 and MOTU UltraLite, but I need also Pro
Tools....Any suggestions?Thanks
Hi,
I've been using 3 FW410s that I "inherited" at work since the beginning of the year, and, well, all I can say is that we are now buying 3 Digi002Rs to replace them.
We lost a LOT of time with the buginess of their software,I had two devices sent in for "repair"...which amounted to M-Audio replacing the units, and no explanation NOR fixes for the buginess, and I STILL got exactly the same buginess afterwards. When I approached them again to tell them about the continued problems, they contradicted their own advise, and subsequently told me to contact digidesign...and I was not even running ProTools to get the buggy behavior at all!!!
I guess they thought that "passing the buck" is ok.I don't think it is.
So,I cannot recommend the M-Audio products, nor their support either.
On the other hand,I have used both the Motu 2408mkiii,with 2 24io expanders, and one 828mkii,and they WORKED every time.I also prefer their converters, they seem to have better jitter control.
Also, their tech support is excellent,at least when I have needed them(once).I even got a follow-up call from the very same tech guy who helped me!!!
Kudos to Motu.
So,I would try the Motu product, rather than the M-Audio.
Cheers,
Nick
