Q: I started the update to 10.8.5 two days ago and my iMac is still "Installing software update" (Less than a minute).

What do I do? Can I restart the computer? How can I get my computer back, even without the update. Please help.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Kept searching and found this article that had a suggestion for my exact case, in a previous release: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2383

 

Turned off and on again my iMac. Started the upgrade again and now it completed within 10 minutes the whole process.
