Oct 9, 2013 10:14 PM in response to charlesfrompenfieldby sberman,Is WiFi "on" when you are looking for the AirPlay icon? Do you have some other Apple device(s) on the same WiFi network with which you could AirPlay?

Oct 10, 2013 5:28 AM in response to sbermanby charlesfrompenfield,Wi-Fi is on, have iPhone 4S and also doesn't work on that. I'm actually just trying to connect through my HDMI cable to my TV and the NBC app comes up with a comment "Airplay not supported on this device".

It looks like AirPlay requires not only an iPad, but an Apple TV or AirPort Express on the same WiFi network. It seems you do not have an Apple TV or AirPort Express.

Oct 11, 2013 5:11 AM in response to charlesfrompenfieldby Diavonex,If you don't see the AirPlay icon:
1. Turn off router, Apple TV and iPad
2. Turn on router and then wait 30 seconds for it to complete start-up process
3. Turn on Apple TV and then wait 30 seconds for it to complete start-up process
4. Turn on iPad (wait 30 seconds) and test AirPlay

Nov 8, 2013 8:46 PM in response to charlesfrompenfieldby Frank@Apple,Another option. Be sure you are connected to your correct wifi network. Many routers have a "guest" network and a main network, and your phone may be connecting to your guest network and not your main network. Your speakers are likely on your main network. So 'forget' your wifi networks, and sign back in on your main network.

Nov 18, 2013 2:35 AM in response to charlesfrompenfieldby mogulmedia,I have just spent £1100 on a Bowers & Wilkins A5 and A7 only to find that iOS7 Airplay only shows up if I reset my router every time I want to listen to music.
In this day and age this is rediculous. I want to go back to old fashioned wires where you had no issues.
I don't see why Apple seem **** bent on making their software inferior with every release (see Pages, Numbers, Keynote etc). Why have they removed the Airplay button from the Music player ffs?!?! What planet are they on?
Come on Apple we pay a premium for your products and expect more than this.

Nov 18, 2013 3:38 AM in response to sbermanby mogulmedia,No, no, no, you shouldn't need Apple TV to make Airplay work!
I think that is probably an old (not-updated) support page.
There are hundreds of Airplay devices out there and none of them state you need Apple TV to make them work! lol
Why would you anyway? What has Apple TV got to do with my ipad/Bowers & Wilkins speakers? Nothing at all... You need a sending device (ipad/iphone), the router, and receiving device (such as Apple TV, Speakers, headphones etc)...
