Has anyone else noticed that since the new update, apps aren't "multitasking" properly?  It seems like a lot of apps that used to remain running are now restarting everytime I switch back and forth using the multitasking option.  Like, I'll have a game of solitaire going and then get a message, and when I switch over to check the message, when I switch back to my game, it restarts.  Kind of annoying.  Also happens with Angry Birds and many other apps.  Anyone else notice this?

    Reset the device:

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Having the same problem on iOS7 on a Verizon iPhone 4S.  Insanely frustrating.  I can't keep anything open in the background.  As soon as I return to an app, and input I'd entered is gone and it reloads like new -- or if I'm reading a document, it scrolls to the top - extremely annoying.

I've seen the same thing -- even Safari browser tabs don't seem to retain their content as long. I can have two tabs open, and simply switching between the two with nothing in between causes each to auto-refresh, whereas on iOS 6.x the tabs would switch instantly. Looks to me like an iOS 7 bug.

I have an iPad 2 exhibiting the same behavior. Resetting it didn't help.

Has anyone had any luck with other approaches? What devices are people seeing this occur on?

Next time it happens, go to Settings/General/About and check the diagnostic report. Does it show "low memory" crash incident?

If so, see the discussion thread "iPad Air Low Memory Crashes".

Seems to be common....this could turn into a HUGH issue.

I've been having this same problem too. It's soooo frustrating! I was having the problem on my ipad mini (non-retina) 16gb. I thought maybe it was a memory issue so I ordered the new retina mini which is supposed to be a lot faster and I ordered 64gb his time so I have plenty of free space. Well guess what it's still having the same problem! Now I know it's not a memory issue. This is a clear bug in iOS7 and I hope Apple fixes this soon! Apps are not really multitasking anymore, they're restarting every time I switch to them. So irritating! How can we bring this more to the attention of Apple? Seems like this is an obvious bug they would want to fix!

Same problem on both my iPhone 4s and iPad 2. Weird that there's not more info on the net about it. Seems like a real problem, but Google finds almost no results!

Any of you get any further yet?

This thread was started 2 months ago and has only a handful of posts. That and the fact that Google finds almost no results on the topic would tell me this isn't a widespread issue. More likely some minor quirk that can be remedied. Have you tried the suggestions posted here?

  • cmbijpost Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

You're obviously right about it not being widespread, though the fact that two separate devices of mine showed the same behavior had me thinking otherwise. I've actually just reset both my iPhone and iPad and that seems to have solved it for me! I was a bit apprehensive to do so, because I didn't really know what would be reset by that. Furthermore JerriAtric said it didn't help form him. For me it did. Thanks for the reply.

Yes I have tried all the suggestions here. Resetting the settings on the iPad, etc. does seem to fix it for me when I tried it. I was excited at first but only to be disappointed when it all came back a few days later. It's like it is fixed temporarily but eventually breaks again. I've yet to see a long-term solution! cmbijpost, I'm curious to know if you experience a long term fix or if the problem will return in a few days/weeks. Keep us posted if you can, thanks.

THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. Just do a search in this discussion forum using keywords "iOS7 Crashes, "iPad Air Crashes" "Low Memory Crashes" etc.

Also, go to this website and watch the tests of iOS7 in action:

Nope, it is indeed not working long-term :( After a few days the problem returned. And now i see it is widespread. I really do hope that a fix will be forthcoming.

This is immensely frustrating and makes my blood boil every time I switch back to an app (Camera, Twitter, Google Maps, YouTube in particular) only to find that I've lost my place and it's restarting. My 4s never did this when running iOS 6. I could switch back and forth between Google Maps, Twitter, and Camera without missing a beat.

Had I known this would happen I never would have "upgraded" to 7.

I am seeing the same with my iPad 2. The reset worked for a short while, but there is definitely an issue here that Apple needs to fix  this is incredibly frustrating!
