What happens when you try?

Are you sure you have an iPad 2 because iOS 5.1.1 is the latest

you can install on an iPad 1?

If you can't download the update directly to the iPad using OTA (over-the-air), try to connect the iPad to your syncing PC and download it/update it that way.
