When using the trackpad, my pointer performs automatically functions if I keep the pointer over an item. For example, if I hover over a close button, it closes the window automatically before I have a chance to click on the button. It also creates a box on the desktop when I move the pointer from one location to the other. How do i turn this function off?

No bluetooth device nearby. No Air Display installed. I am sure this problem is a setting that I need to turn off. Does anyone know how to turn the auto function off? The pointer behaves like a pc with windows. You know when it hovers near or over text is selects the whole line.
Check system preferences, trackpad see if tap tp click is checked, if it is try unchecking and see if that helps
Tap was unchecked. Still acts like a PC.
