ERROR TURNING ON

ERROR TURNING ON

My iMac OSX wont turn on when normally you'd push the power button you'd get the apple icon then log in, but all tht comes up on mine when i turn it on is a infine loop of rapidly flashing of these icons; the apple icon, a cancel out icon, and occasionally there will be this folder with a question mark on it (note: Im still starting up I havent gotten to the login or desktop scren yet) please im using my ACER laptop and i really need my mac files please some have an answer. And yes i have turned it on and off again, and took out my mouse flash drive and put it back in, but when i do that it stops flashing for a brief second then starts again. PLEASE HELP.

Ouch, see if this works, there's a serious problem with the Hard Drive it seems...

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

Very worst case is you can restrore from your back up, so don't panic.Follow BDAua's suggestion and see if you can repair the disk. If you cannot then take it in for service, when it returns restore from your backup and you are back in business.
