disabled ipod for 23,000,000 minutes?

Ipod had died over the weekend--upon restirung a ful charge, we turned it on and it states it is disabled for 23,000,000 minutes. I have never synced it to the computer and when I attempted to trouble shot via that route, it would not let me due to it being disabled. Suggestions?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:

iTunes: Restoring iOS software

To restore from backup see:

iOS: How to back up

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

My iPad is an iPad 1, so it does not have IOS 7. I have tried to connect the device to iTunes, but when I go on to iTunes it says "iTunes could not connect to the iPad “the bobo bunch” because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes." I can't enter the password because my iPad is disabled for 23,050,592 minutes.
