There is a error at 'To open an item in the results list, just click it if you're viewing the Spotlight menu, or double-click the item if you're looking at results in the Finder.
I think to looking at results in the Finder should use 'Command+Click'.

You open things in the Finder by double-clicking (or cmd-down arrow). Cmd-click just extends the selection.
OK. I think I miss understand the mean of open things in the Finder.
