blocked plug in
I have tried to upload Adobe flash to stop a "blocked plug in" notice. I can get through step one and step two but then on step three I still get blocked plug in! Thoughts?

Here are the instructions from Adobe...

Where are you downloading this Flash player? The latest Flash player is here
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Also, be sure in Safari > Preferences > Security you Allow internet plug-ins.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
1. If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
2. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
3. Triple-click the line below to select it:
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
4. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
6. Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
7. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Chris Campbell (Adobe employee) and I have been through several "blocked plugin" troubleshoots in the forums at Adobe. Some, we were able to resolve by resetting Safari. Others weren't so successful, and we had no choice but to put them onto Firefox.
Problem is: Once Safari blocks the plugin, it can't be repaired or reverted back to one that isn't blocked. We tried going back to 11.7, 11.2, 10, and even 9 with no success. Safari doesn't allow it.
Chris told me that Adobe IS working on some hard coded rewrites that will clear the way for a new install and undo the block. It should be in the November 6 update if they get it written by then.
I just ran across this problem tonight with my brother's Mac. I tried a lot of different things suggestion in the Apple discussion forums and Adobe's website, but nothing worked until I tried the following:
- I moved the following two Flash files to a temporary location (e.g., the Desktop):
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/flashplayer.xpt
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin
- Reset Safari
- Move the files from the temporary location back to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
- Reset Safari again
When Safari was re-launched, the "blocked plug-in" error message disappeared. Unfortunately, I don't (yet) have a great explanation for why this worked. I'd be interested if this works for others, so please let me know.
1. Open Safari
2. Go to a site which has a "blocked plug in"
3. Click on "blocked plug in"
4. Adobe Flash player will ask if you would like to Download
5. Select "Download"
6. Close Safari
7. Go to "Window" (or where your "Downloads" are kept) and open
8. Select "Downloads" - Flash icon will show
9. Click on Flash to install and it takes a few minutes
10. Reopen Safari and go to your "blocked site". It should open.
About 10/2014 Adobe did a major update. I tried downloading about 2 - 3 times a day with no luck - BLOCKED PLUG IN. I finally spoke with an Apple person and he said that I had done everything BUT install. BTW - he was very nice and helped me at no charge.
