Hello,

I'm not sure which, can't find a comparison, but here's some in depth on the Seagate...

If cost isn't the object a Dual 960 GB Raid setup from OWC would be fastest, but internet or OWC is having trouble right now.

Later you can go here & look for upgrade your model on the right to see what is available...

For openers, the Apple Fusion drive is infact two distinct

and seperate drives (128 SSD + HDD). The Momentus has

16 gig flash integrated with the HDD.

The Momentus ends up making a best guess at what items

are accessed most often and puts them in the flash for faster

access.

The Fusion drive works in a similar manner, with much more space.

Check this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5446.

With that said, whether your actual work files will end up in

flash space is likely an unknown, and therefor the faster drive

HDD part would be better.

Also, you want to grab a Momentus while still available as Seagate

has moved to their SSHD line which does incorporate more flash

but has gone with a slower HDD instead of the 7200.

My choice was to add a 240 GB SSD from OWC to the stock Mac Mini 2012 i7 and create a Fusion drive from a partition on the SSD and a partition on the HDD (5400 RPM) that came with the mini. It requires disaaembling the entire system, but I got about twice the SSD capacity for about the same price. And it took some time to back up the original system and then reload the Fusion drive with the OS and then restore all the files.

Apple fusion drive (5400rpm) or internal Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid 750gb (7200rpm)?
