Video Trancoding for Itunes : either video or sound but not both

Hi there,

trying to convert an .avi file to .mp4 to get it on Itunes and on of course on my Apple TV.

I've read a lot of things on the web and managed to configure VLC to trancode file properly to MP4(H.264) video and MP4 Audio (AAC) format.

It look like trancoding is OK as VLC and Quick Time play video and sound perfectly.

But someting strange happens on Itunes : I get the transcoded video playing just fine but no sound. Strange....

Moreover, if I set up exatly the same trancode properties but extract only the audio track, Itunes plays this sound file properly... weird...

If I right-clic on the video file and select "get information" to see what exatly Itunes see in this file I have the following (in French sorry):

User uploaded file

Il looks like Itunes doesn't see the audio track at all...

I've looked around for same problem but can't figure what's wrong....

Any help, tricks or advises would be really appreciated. If someone wants to test the generated files i keep it on disposal.

Thanks in advance for your help... I'm out of ideas...

Still looking for a solution...

It seems like VLC, while tracoding change audio/video stream order in MP4 Muxing and set Audio stream BEFORE Video Stream... and Itunes doesn't support it while VLC and Quick Times doesn't care :

Original Avi file is :

Converted MP4 File is :

You can notice that Audio Stream is now First....

As the following file (not generated or trancoded by VLC) work just fine in Itunes and where Video Stream is first :

User uploaded file

Anyone knows how to force Stream number in VLC trancode Process or any option/trick to force Itunes to support such Mp4 format ????

Thanks for your help.
