How do I fix a recorded audio track that is clipped?
HELP! I am new to Garageband and I ran into a problem last week while recording an audio message. When I began recording the audit message with Garageband I noticed that the input signal level was so high that it was constantly being clipped. I couldn't stop doing the recording so I continued to the end of the message. Now that I have the complete audio recording and it is clipped throughout the entire message is there anyway I can compress or dynamically adjust the range of the recording to either eliminate or reduce the clipping?
Ooof, I'm afraid the basic answer to that is "no" B-(>
SoundTrack Pro claims to be able to repair a clipped signal, but I have no first hand experience with it, nor do I know what it does to the data to repair a clip
It is kind of like recording on a junkie mic. Maybe you can improve the sound or remove artifacts but it will never be as good a rerecord on a decent setup. Digital clipping may be able to be fixed but I cannot believe the sound would be anywhere near decent, especially if you clipped non-stop. The Soundtrack Pro claim must be referring to small moments of clipping, not the entire track.
