set up to a regular monitor display

My husband just purchased a mac mini and will set it up this week end and has a question-how do you hook it up to a regular monitor that has a

VGA output. What do you do to set it up-what do you use? I see the mac mini has a hdmi input.

We would appreciate any info on this.

Thank you,

I also have a hdmi output on the monitor-the monitor is 24 inch Sceptre LCD HDTV.

So, can I run a hdmi from the TV to the mac mini?-I would use the mini's hdmi port?

Regular hdmi or mini hdmi? would i need to hook up the audio, etc on it if using the hdmi port?

Hubby has his current computer-not an apple hooked up to the monitor-VGA to VGA and has the audio, etc hooked up.

forgive all the questions. We are a first time apple computer buyer.

I see both regular hdmi cables and mini hdmi cables on the market-which one would work with the monitor tv/apple mini mac combination here?

Thank you for your time,

Carol

You can connect both TV and VGA monitor to the Mac Mini at the same time if you like.

The TV to the HDMI port using a standard HDMI cable and can be purchased at Target, Walmart, BestBuy, etc.

The VGA momitor on the other hand will need to be connected to the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port using a MiniDisplay Port to VGA adapter, because the HDMI port only supports Digital output and not analog VGA.

Go to > Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.) for the VGA adapter. Plus you also might find one at your local BestBuy if they are an Apple Reseller.

Well, hubby set it up and I have to say that for a supposedly easy thing to navigate around-it is not.

We have been windows people for a long time and have a hard time right now with finding where to go when we need to. It was easier navigating around Windows 7-hey even windows 8 is easier to us and that is saying something. We are not Tech wizards and require things to be simple to use and move around in.

Need to do a factory restore but cannot find the Command key on our regular keyboard so we can bring up the process at startup Need to press the Command R keys and don't have the command one.

Is there something I can use with a regular keyboard-I have an Onn wireless as does Hubby.

I see the need for buying more Tylenol for the headaches.

Not so simple with this mac mini with us. I even find it hard to navigate.
