Ford Escape Sync -- problem downloading phonebook from iPhone 4S since recent OSX upgraded

I have a 2009 Ford Escape and an iPhone 4S. Shortly after the recent OSX update, I got an error message when I tried to use voice activated calling saying my phonebook was empty. I deleted the phonebook and tried to redownload but get a "download failed" message. Any suggestions? I have never had this issue before. Is it related to the new Apple software upgrade? Thanks in advance for any help in resolving this.
