Ipod nano 5th gen

A few years ago I got my ipod nano 5th gen, but I hadn't used I much and there were very few songs on it. I decided to get more music, so I plugged it into a windows based computer and downloaded itunes. This computer had a history of viruses, but I didn't know if that would be relevent to an ipod. After setting up my account I unplugged my ipod, and imediantly it went black, but not entirely, like the brightness was all the way down. I presses the buttons, but nothing happened, even when I tried to lock and unlock it again. It's fully charged, and I've tried to plug it in again, instead to an outlet, but it still doesn't do anything. What should I do?
