Q: Mac Mini (mid-2011) HDMI version and max resolution?
Hi
I have a Mac Mini mid-2011.
According to the Apple spec sheet it says:
"HDMI port with support for up to 1920-by-1200 resolution"
But it doesn't say which version of HDMI it has.
Is that 1920x1200 a hard limit? I have a 27" screen that supports higher resolutions but they do not show up in the settings.
I am curious whether I maybe have an HDMI cable that is only v1.2 and if getting a more recent one (>v1.3) would allow me to select higher resolutions,
or if the Mini itself, in spite of being a 2011 model only uses an old HMDI standard.
I could get higher resolutions via the display port but my screen doesn't have the proper connector.
HMDI supports the following resolutions:
HMDI v1.0 (2002): 1920×1200p60
HMDI v1.1 (2004): 1920×1200p60
HMDI v1.2 (2005): 1920×1200p60
HMDI v1.3 (2006): 2560×1600p75
HMDI v1.4 (2009): 3840×2160p30
HMDI v2.0 (2013): 3840×2160p60
Any thoughts?
