The itunes on my Lenovo laptop cannot recognize my iphone5. Help! :)

I was trying to get that pesky photo library on to my computer so that I can delete it from my phone because there is literally no room left to even take a picture or update my phone. I have two libraries that are identical, both stemming from an old iphone 3GS. I can't delete one of them even if I wanted to, in the meantime! I'd like to free up my phone. Any suggestions? Thanks!
